What Washington requires
In Washington, a learner permit is available starting at age 15 (with driver-ed enrollment). Washington requires 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night before a teen can finish the supervised-driving stage of licensing.
The learner permit also has to be held for at least 6 months before a teen can move up to the next license stage in Washington, so it's worth starting the log early.
A parent or guardian certifies the completed hours. There's no trip log to submit.
✓ Requirements verified on July 17, 2026 against Washington's official DMV source.

How many of the hours have to be at night?
Washington requires 10 of the 50 hours at night. Learner Log tracks daytime and nighttime minutes separately, so your night total is always current.
