What Pennsylvania requires
In Pennsylvania, a learner permit is available starting at age 16. Pennsylvania requires 65 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night and 5 in bad weather before a teen can finish the supervised-driving stage of licensing.
The learner permit also has to be held for at least 6 months before a teen can move up to the next license stage in Pennsylvania, so it's worth starting the log early.
A parent or guardian certifies the completed hours on the DL-180C Parent or Guardian Certification. There's no trip log to submit.
✓ Requirements verified on July 20, 2026 against Pennsylvania's official DMV source.

Questions about Pennsylvania requirements
Do I submit this log to Pennsylvania?
No. Pennsylvania has a parent or guardian certify your completed hours on the DL-180C Parent or Guardian Certification. Learner Log is your private record for tracking them, with no trip log to turn in.
How many of the hours have to be at night?
Pennsylvania requires 10 of the 65 hours at night. Learner Log tracks daytime and nighttime minutes separately, so your night total is always current.
Do some of the hours have to be in bad weather?
Yes. Pennsylvania requires 5 of the 65 hours in inclement weather (rain, snow, fog, or ice). Tag those drives and Learner Log keeps a running bad-weather total toward the requirement.
How long must the Pennsylvania permit be held?
The configured Pennsylvania licensing path requires the permit to be held for at least 6 months. Confirm the current timing with the licensing agency before applying.
