How to fill out Nevada’s DLD-130
Nevada’s DLD-130 records 50 hours — 3,000 minutes — of supervised driving, 10 hours of it in darkness, and must be completed before you arrive for the drive test appointment. It is stricter than most logs about how it is filled in: the ink, the clock format, and what happens to a form after it is signed are all specified on the sheet.
Log minutes into Column A or Column B

Use blue or black ink, and nothing else
The form states it twice: the log and any additional sheets must be completed in blue or black ink, and no pencil or colored gel pens will be accepted. A log that is otherwise perfect can be turned away on this alone.

Put the session in the correct column
Column A is daytime driving and Column B is nighttime driving, side by side with identical headings. Each has its own Date, Begin, End and Minutes fields. A session that is wholly day or wholly night goes in one column; a drive that runs across dusk splits — its daytime minutes in Column A, its after-dark minutes in Column B.

Write begin and end times with AM or PM
The column says to indicate AM or PM and not to use military time, and the sheet adds that logs completed using military time will not be accepted. 20:15 is a rejected form; 8:15 pm is not.

Record the length in minutes, not hours
The Minutes column takes whole minutes — the pre-printed example row shows a two-hour drive as 120. A session entered as 0.33 rather than 20 understates it by almost everything.

Work the subtotal ladder at the foot
The footer runs Subtotal Column B, Subtotal Column A, minutes from additional sheets, Total Minutes, then Total Hours by dividing that figure by 60. Each line depends on the one above it.

Sign last, and do not correct afterwards
The parent or guardian certifies the experience, with a notary public or Field Services representative signing alongside. Signatures must be originals rather than photocopies, and the form states that changes may not be made once it is signed.
One evening drive, in the right column and the right units
The form supplies its own example row — a 6:00 am to 8:00 am drive recorded as 120 minutes. Here is the equivalent for twenty minutes of practice after dark on January 5.

Total Minutes is Column A plus Column B plus anything carried from additional sheets — 156 in this example — and Total Hours is that figure divided by 60. The 50-hour requirement is 3,000 minutes and the darkness requirement is 600, so thinking in minutes throughout avoids converting twice.
What gets a DLD-130 rejected
- Filling the log in pencil or a colored gel pen — the sheet names both as unacceptable, twice.
- Writing begin and end times in military time, which the form says will not be accepted.
- Entering decimal hours in a column that takes whole minutes, so a 20-minute drive reads 0.33.
- Correcting an entry after the form has been signed, when the sheet states changes may not be made once signed.
- Submitting a photocopy where the form requires original signatures.
How drives are split between the two columns

Print the sheet before it is filled in and signed. The form requires original signatures and states that no changes may be made once signed, so a corrected reprint has to be re-signed from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fill the DLD-130 in pencil?
No. The log and any additional sheets must be in blue or black ink; the form names pencil and colored gel pens as unacceptable.
Does Nevada accept a 24-hour clock?
